Circle The Date
12/18: vs Shore Regional - The Warriors have a lot of starters returning, so we'll focus on their opening dual against the Blue Devils to see if the team is ready to take a step up in 2019.
A young team with a lot of new faces from a large freshmen class, as well as a good number from the football program, are in the room, giving Manasquan some very strong numbers in 2019.
The Warriors return the bulk of their experience in the lower half of the lineup. Senior Ethan Dzenis returns after a big 2018 that saw him record a team high 29 wins, and place 2nd in District 23. Also back for Manasquan is senior Bella Serrano, a 4-year starter who will be among a trio of girls, along with America Garay and Lia Mendoza, aiming for a trip to AC for NJ's first ever All-Girls State Tournament. Back at 106 for 'Squan is Peter Berlin, coming off a 16-win rookie season. The Warriors also return 17-match winner Jackson Jannarone, a junior, and sophomore Orlando Osorio. Osorio really improved with experience as the season rolled on last year, winning 12 of his final 15 bouts. He could be in for a breakout year in 2019.
There will be a lot of new faces competing for spots in the lineup in the upper half. Senior Shane Ownes will be the anchor up top for the Warriors. He is coming off a 24-win season and gives the Warriors a strong veteran presence up top. Other than Ownes, the only other projected starter with varsity experience will be junior Joseph Introna.
